A team of detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters has arrested two suspects and recovered a firearm following a well-coordinated operation in Kisumu.
Acting on intelligence reports, the detectives mounted a strategic ambush along the busy Kisumu–Busia Highway.
The operation bore fruit when officers intercepted a sleek black Toyota Prado, registration number KCB 411A, carrying two occupants.
A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a Phantom pistol, a machete concealed in a black sheath, and three mobile phones believed to be linked to criminal activities.
The suspects were identified as Evans Otieno Ongere and Abel Onyango Owuor.
They were immediately taken into custody and escorted to Maseno Police Station, where they are being held pending arraignment.
Authorities confirmed that the recovered firearm, along with the other items and the impounded vehicle, will serve as key exhibits as investigations continue.
According to the DCI, the arrest of the two suspects, believed to be linked to criminal activities, marks a significant step in ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb crime in Kisumu.
