Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that President William Ruto is trying to woo him back through emissaries following the outcome of the recent Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election.
Speaking at his Wamunyoro residence while hosting a delegation from Ol Kalou, Gachagua alleged that Murang’a Woman Representative Betty Maina called him to relay a message that President Ruto was willing to work with him again.
“Ruto is sending proxies to woo me back,” Gachagua claimed, adding that he has been receiving numerous calls from the President’s allies.
He further alleged that Mathira Member of Parliament Eric Wamumbi sent him a congratulatory message after the by-election and urged him not to be too harsh on President Ruto’s administration.
According to Gachagua, Wamumbi advised him to follow in the footsteps of the late Raila Odinga, suggesting that he and President Ruto could still work together in the future.
However, Gachagua maintained that he was not ready to reconcile with President Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election.
He claimed that he responded to Wamumbi’s message by telling him that he, too, should prepare to “go home” politically in 2027.
