United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Hassan Omar has chosen a remarkably ungrateful path, using deeply unkind words to describe members of the Kikuyu community, the very people who voted to the last man to put President William Ruto in State House.
Let that sink in for a moment. Were it not for Kikuyu votes, William Ruto would most likely be back in Sugoi, rearing chickens and watching politics from the fence.
The Kikuyu community, which forms the single largest voting bloc in the country, contributed a staggering 47 percent of the votes that carried Ruto all the way to the House on the Hill in the 2022 presidential election.
But that loyalty has since soured. Ruto fell out with the Kikuyu community over two things that cut deep. First, he presided over the impeachment of their own son, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, without so much as a conversation with the community. Second, he has spectacularly failed to honour the promises he made to them on the campaign trail.
Now, with nationwide protests over the surge in fuel prices leaving six people dead and property worth millions of shillings destroyed across more than 30 out of 47 counties, Hassan Omar chose to point his finger not at the government’s painful economic decisions but at the Kikuyu community.
In a deeply tribal and irresponsible move, he indirectly branded them robbers and thieves, linking them to the chaos and destruction witnessed on Monday and urging them to give Ruto time to rule the country.
The audacity is breathtaking, particularly coming from a man who brought zero votes to Ruto’s corner during the 2022 presidential election. Hassan Omar contributed nothing to that victory, yet here he stands, attacking the community whose overwhelming support made that victory possible.
Below is the video of Hassan Omar, Ruto’s attack dog, directing his venom at the Kikuyu community, which, without any doubt, made William Ruto the fifth president of the Republic of Kenya. >>>>>
