Police in Mbeere North Sub-County, Embu County, have launched investigations into the brutal murder of a local businessman whose body was discovered lying in a pool of blood along a rural road.
The victim, identified as Njiru Mugao, was found dead on Monday morning in Kamishara Village, Ndurumori Location, leaving residents shocked and fearful.
According to police reports, residents alerted authorities after stumbling upon the lifeless body near a murram road in the area.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Mugao had left his home at around 4:30 a.m. on June 1 to travel to Ishiara Town, where he operated a hotel business.
His wife reportedly informed investigators that he had left for work as usual and that there was nothing unusual about his movements before the tragic incident.
Hours later, residents discovered his body and immediately contacted police.
Officers who visited the scene found the businessman lying on his back, dressed in a black striped trouser and a black-and-white top.
Investigators established that he had suffered multiple serious injuries, including deep cuts to the head and a severe wound above the right eyebrow.
The body also had several bruises on the head, raising suspicion that he may have been attacked using a sharp object during a violent confrontation.
Detectives are now treating the incident as a murder case as investigations continue to establish the motive behind the killing and identify those responsible.
