A Kenyan woman has shared a heartbreaking account on social media after her cousin, who had been reported missing, was later found dead at City Mortuary in Nairobi under distressing circumstances.
In a deeply emotional Facebook post, the woman revealed that her cousin’s disappearance began with his mobile phone going off and remaining unreachable, often registering as “mteja.”
Despite repeated attempts by his family to reach him, there was no response, raising growing concern among relatives.
According to the post, the family eventually discovered that the missing man’s body had been lying at City Mortuary for some time and was already decomposing by the time it was identified.
The revelation has left the family devastated and struggling to come to terms with the loss.
The woman used her post to warn the public against delaying searches when a loved one goes missing, urging families to check hospitals and mortuaries immediately after reporting a disappearance.
She lamented that bodies are often disposed of after a certain period if unclaimed, making delays potentially fatal to closure for affected families.
Adding to the mystery surrounding the death, the family noticed that the deceased’s Facebook account had been wiped clean, with all photos and personal details deleted.
This unusual development has raised further questions and deepened the family’s anguish.
The deceased, identified as Antony Mugambi, was remembered as a beloved family member who had recently travelled from Nairobi to attend his grandmother’s event two months earlier.
The woman recalled that plans were already underway for a family Christmas celebration, with invitations extended to his mother and other relatives — plans now painfully overtaken by tragedy.
