Former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has defended the Government’s distribution of 3,000 day-old chicks in Ol Kalou Constituency, dismissing criticism over the timing of the initiative as political campaigns intensify ahead of the upcoming by-election.
In a statement shared on X, Kuria said the programme is aimed at helping families earn an income, improve food security, and grow their livelihoods.
According to him, the chicks are being distributed across all the five wards of Ol Kalou Constituency as part of the Government’s broader efforts to uplift communities through practical economic empowerment programmes.
“3,000 day-old chicks are currently being distributed across all the five wards of Ol Kalou Constituency to help families earn an income, improve food security and grow their livelihoods,” Kuria posted.
He said the people of Ol Kalou, Nyandarua County, the Mt. Kenya region, and the rest of Kenya deserve practical development programmes that create opportunities and improve their quality of life.
Kuria argued that some communities had been neglected for years but insisted that the current administration is addressing those challenges through tangible projects.
“For many years, some communities were left behind and denied the development they deserved. We are changing that through real action,” he said.
